It <a href="http://cloudinit.readthedocs.org/en/latest/index.html">describes itself</a> as &ldquo;the defacto multi-distribution package that handles early initialization of a cloud instance&rdquo;. It has a wide range of capabilities, and is an important yet under-used piece of infrastructure.</p>
